who is citizen marin?
In a way, Citizen Marin is kind of like our older, more mature sister organization in Marin County. They are based in San Rafael, CA and are honestly a world ahead of us here in Sonoma County in terms of fighting Plan Bay Area. They are truly an inspiration to us. In Marin County, Plan Bay Area opponents spearheaded recall efforts for their County Supervisor, Susan Adams. Although they weren't successful in unseating her, they were able to bring Plan Bay Area into the publics' awareness. They have since been successful in having three Priority Development Areas rescinded in Marin County.
The following information comes directly from Citizen Marin's website and links have been included for your convenience.
Citizen Marin is comprised of the leaders of neighborhood and community groups from throughout Marin County who are wrestling with the demands of the Sustainable Communities Strategies and SB375.
Originally convened in April 2011 under the name Marin Communities Coalition for Local Control, MCC4LC changed its name Citizen Marin in 2012.
Leaders meet on a regular basis to educate and inform about the Housing Elements, Regional Housing Needs Allocations (RHNA) numbers, high density housing, health risks, environmental impacts, ABAG/MTC and a host of other far-reaching challenges to the health and well-being of our communities under the banner of the One Bay Area Plan.
Citizen Marin offers occasional public events for elected officials and the public.
